At Gothenburg Volunteer Fire Department, our mission is to protect lives and property through dedicated fire services. We strive to provide exceptional emergency response and community outreach in Gothenburg and surrounding areas.

We would like to thank everyone who attended our cooperate sponsor appreciation night, and all the retired firemen. The proceeds from the last couple of firemen’s balls have went towards some very helpful equipment, last year we purchased a set of (Jaws of life) and this year we are looking at purchasing a (Heart monitor) for our ambulance. More Recently New (Air packs) with Radio communication for life saving entry of house fires.
The Gothenburg Chamber Ambassadors had an opportunity this morning to thank our tremendous Gothenburg Fire Department for their service to our community. The 44 members on our GVFD answer approximately 275 rescue calls a year and 40-60 fire calls, covering a broad area around the city. More than half of the squad are certified EMTs and there is a waiting list to join, which is a testament to the quality of our department. We're grateful to each of them for their service.
